HARD WORK
The following paragraph is excerpted from John Jesse’s remarkable book titled “Wrestling Physical Conditioning Encyclopedia”, published by The Athletic Press, Pasadena, CA, in 1974.
“There is no shortcut to strength development, as there is none for the development of skill, agility, speed or endurance. No amount of fancy gimmicks or equipment or adoption of alleged time-saving ‘fads’ will substitute for a long term program of hard work, that is required to develop the quality of strength needed by a person for optimum performance in his specialty. Greater progress during the past 15 years has been the result of harder work by the athletes, not by resorting to shortcuts and less work.”
Psycho Gym’s training programs are intense and somewhat barbaric. People say we are like cave men and scientists combined into one. We are always experimenting with new things and trying to find ideas that work better and better. We use old school ideas as well as new school ones. We do odd things that you won’t find trainers in corporate gyms doing. We do these things because they work; they worked hundreds of years ago for our ancestors and they still work today. Our programs are designed to build real world strength, power, agility, and mobility, traits that you can actually use in your day to day life.
In today’s society everyone wants quick fixes, they want to hit the easy button, they want results at the blink of an eye, . Technology and evolving advancements are great things but at the same time it has made society lazy. Very few people realize the hours and hours of hard work that it takes to turn your body into a well-oiled machine. We pride ourselves on getting people to work outside their comfort zones. Your body can do things you never imagined, you just have to mentally let it.
